The Temple of Emerald Buddha

The Grand Palace is surrounded by walls built in 1782. Within the 1,900 m. long walls the Royal Chapel of the Emerald Buddha, the Royal Residences and the Government Offices are situated. The Grand Palace and the Temple of Emerald Buddha are located on Rattanakosin island on the eastern bank of the Chao Praya River.

The complex of buildings consists of chedis, halls, prangs, palaces, museums surrounded by mythological creatures, such as kinnaris, guardian demons and are decorated with demons, monkeys, nagas and garudas, angels, mythological creatures of the Ramakien epic made of precious stones.
